We give helpful advice in plain English about important, sensitive and delicate issues for clients of all ages, and we don't charge the earth.
Much of the advice we provide is given under fixed fee schemes. For example, we charge a fixed fee of £250 + VAT for our 'Standard Will', or £320 + VAT for couples making mirror wills. Our 'Standard Will', in our experience, is suitable for most of our clients. Further, if our 'Standard' does not suit your particular circumstances, and you need a more bespoke offering, we'll give you an estimate of the likely costs before you decide whether or not to go ahead.
Our fixed fee Lasting Powers of Attorney service is more and more in demand for clients looking to protect themselves and their families. From just £300 + VAT, and government registration fee (currently £82), we offer a comprehensive service for anyone looking to safeguard their assets, manage their business affairs, or deal with difficult issues affecting their health and wellbeing, should they become unable to do so in the future.
For Probate matters, we offer down-to-earth advice to personal representatives, at modest cost, whether or not the deceased left a will.
It is difficult to estimate the cost of administering an estate and dealing with probate, because each case is different. Some are straightforward, and can be resolved reasonably quickly. More complicated matters take longer, and by definition cost more in time and fees. Unlike some advisers, we do not charge a percentage of the value of the estate. We charge by reference to an hourly rate, currrently £250 + VAT. The final bill will depend on how much time is spent sorting out any problems, and completing the administration process. Larger and more complicated estates take longer to deal with, and involve more in terms of time and commitment. Usually, however, we can say that our final bill will fall somewhere between £1,800 and £3,500, plus VAT and disbursements (out of pocket expenses), depending on complexity, number and variety of assets, and the time spent dealing with the issues. By concession, payment of our bill is generally made from the proceeds of the estate, but we may require advance payment of some disbursements, for example, the probate fee which is required before the Court will issue a Grant of Probate.
